This position is responsible for leading the delivery of strategic human resources products and services that will serve to improve overall organizational effectiveness within FENOC, our nuclear business unit.  This involves understanding and determining FENOC’s needs, shaping the product or service to ensure successful implementation, identifying and developing the desired leadership skills and behaviors within the nuclear organization, and building key business relationships with senior leaders and leadership teams of FENOC.  Additionally, the job requires the ability to collaboratively work across FirstEnergy providing vital feedback and communication; specifically, with Corporate Human Resources, FENOC Human Resources, and the HR Service Delivery team, as well as Corporate Communications and external consultants.

 

 

 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.    Maintain full understanding of strategic HR products and services including Talent Management, Succession Planning, Leadership and Employee Development, Performance Management and Engagement.

2.    Manage FENOC’s annual and ongoing Talent Talk process.  Manage information and results from sessions; utilize information and results to ensure succession plans for key jobs and development plans for key talent.  Partner with FENOC HR to ensure effective and timely Talent Talks.

3.    Work with FENOC leadership and FENOC HR leadership to ensure accountability and effective management of employee performance and development.  Drive alignment among individual, business unit and corporate objectives and assess training needs.

4.    Be the primary contact for senior leaders of FENOC in organizational and leadership development, as well as succession planning for key jobs.

5.    Maintain working knowledge of other HR areas, including: benefits, compensation, training, recruiting, workforce planning

6.    Develop implementation plans for targeted HR products and services that meet FENOC’s needs.

7.    Demonstrate full understanding of FENOC’s Business Plan and full understanding of the operating environment. 

8.    Work across FirstEnergy and on the HR Service Delivery team by sharing best practices and leveraging skills, abilities and experiences.  Identify areas for continuous improvement.

9.    Effectively manage business relationships with HR Business Partners – HR Field or Site Generalists, Corporate Generalists, and other HR organizations. 

10.  Actively support and partner with recruiting, including FE Co-op/Intern Program – support performance requirements and accountabilities.

11.  Effectively manage assigned support staff.  Develop and implement employee accountabilities, key performance indicators, and performance expectations.

12. Develop and coach employees -  set high standards, provide feedback and reward results.

 

 

·      Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology  or similar discipline or equivalent related experience is required. Highly driven and self-motivated; demonstrated ability and experience in talent management, organizational development, and leadership and employee development required.

·      Demonstrated Project Management skills and the ability to effectively oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously

·      Strong customer service skills and the ability to be creative and proactive in developing/delivering solutions

·      Demonstrated ability to adapt and manage multiple priorities, as well as the ability to manage staff in multiple locations

·      Must have demonstrated success in working effectively across the organization.  Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, relationship building, customer service, and teamwork skills; demonstrate sound judgment; and ability to adapt communication skills to all audiences. 

·      In-depth knowledge of information systems such as Microsoft Office tools, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Lotus Notes and SAP preferred.

·      Requires travel to the various nuclear facilities: Perry (OH), Davis-Besse (Toledo OH), Beaver Valley (Shippingport PA).
